How is Solunus fueling growth with DEI?

Over the years, diverse teams have a proven track record of being some of the most successful teams in the corporate world globally. From outperforming teams and competitors, achieving better results in lesser timeframes, and capturing new markets to driving sales and creating an engaging and harmonious work environment, diverse teams open leeway for businesses to get a competitive edge in the market.

In this blog, we’ll dive into the various DEI initiatives that our organization has adopted and how it is making our business thrive while making our employees feel valued and heard. But before that, let’s understand what DEI all is about.

What is DEI?

The abbreviation for the three most powerful buzzwords in the corporate world since the 2010s is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). DEI is a smart approach that helps firms create a fair, inclusive, and diverse workplace.

While diversity refers to a mix of people from various backgrounds and experiences, equity is the metric that allows firms to provide equal opportunities and fair treatment for all their employees, and inclusion lets the company ensure that all their employees are valued, included, and heard.

How is Solunus promoting DEI?

Leadership buy-in

Leaders shape the culture of every organization, making their commitment essential to advancing DEI initiatives. At Solunus, our leaders set the tone and actively promote this inclusivity culture by allocating resources, establishing and enforcing policies, influencing key stakeholders, and ensuring accountability to reach DEI goals.

Our leadership goes beyond verbal support to actively engage and model inclusivity in our organization. Notably, 50% of our leadership team comprises women and is ethnically diverse, underscoring our commitment to representation and diversity at all levels.

Diverse Hiring

The first step in fostering DEI in any organization is Diversity Hiring. To create a workforce that includes individuals from different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, the organization has to intentionally drive this initiative.

To ensure that we attract diversity hires, we focus on creating unbiased job descriptions, having diverse interview panels, conducting skill-based assessments, and more. Practicing this approach has not only helped us cater to diverse client needs and come up with ground-breaking innovative ideas but also given us a competitive advantage.

Inclusive Onboarding

The first impression is the last impression, and the onboarding experience is one of the first glimpses that candidates/employees get about an organization. From setting the tone of company culture and making them feel a part of a great organization to boosting their productivity and morale, inclusive onboarding will leave a greater impact on your employees than you can imagine.

At Solunus, we use the following strategies to make each employee feel welcomed and encourage them to share their experiences to make this process more impactful.

  • Tailored welcome
  • Diverse buddy system
  • Cultural brief
  • Accessible content
  • Feedback channels
  • Introduce DEI initiatives from the outset

DEI Training

Before introducing any initiatives, creating awareness about the same is important. This is why conducting DEI training for the employees from time to time is crucial to equip them with the necessary tools to champion these initiatives.

At Solunus, we conduct DEI awareness sessions once every quarter which is helping us broaden our employees’ perspectives and eliminate unconscious biases. These sessions have been instrumental in improving our team dynamics and promoting collaboration, which is a win-win for all of us.

Mentorship Programs

If you want to build a skilled, engaged, and loyal workforce, mentorship programs are non-negotiable! Mentors bring their wealth of experience, offer insights, and share guidance while honing their leadership skills. Equally important, mentees bring new ideas and fresh perspectives, actively contributing to problem-solving.

Through our mentorship programs, we expedited knowledge sharing and skill development and fostered professional and personal development, creating an ecosystem of growth.

Employee Resource Groups

Also known as affinity groups, employee resource groups (ERGs) are employee-led, voluntary groups formed around people who share similar interests, goals, characteristics, or experiences.

One such initiative at our organization is the SheSquad, which has been founded to foster a supportive and connected work environment for all our women employees. Groups like these open a forum for people to connect and support each other as they work together to drive the organization’s goals.

DEI Goals

Any initiative should be goal-driven to succeed, so should all the DEI initiatives be! Setting actionable commitments that drive tangible results in the organization is integral to building a strong workplace culture.

At Solunus, we set clear targets every year that drive representation, community engagement, and employee experience, guiding us toward building an incredibly inclusive environment.

Celebrate Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism is at the heart of Solunus! We celebrate all our employees from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, traditions, beliefs, and experiences.

From fostering a sense of belonging to promoting respect for diverse cultures, fostering an inclusive ecosystem, and reducing biases, celebrating cultural diversity laid the foundation for a harmonious environment

Regular Review

While setting goals and driving initiatives is great, we need to review the progress frequently to assess the impact we’ve achieved and where we stand.

At Solunus, we make it a priority to assess our DEI progress, identify gaps, and adapt to changes. This adaptability is a testament to our commitment to transforming our workplace culture, making it more inclusive and conducive for everyone to grow and thrive.

The DEI Ripple Effect

Championing DEI initiatives has been helping us attract job seekers who feel valued and heard.  While it helped us to encourage them to be their authentic selves and grow into the best version of themselves, it has also been parallelly helping us create an environment that is conducive to learning, growth, and low attrition rates which is directly proportional to our financial growth.
